Programme: “ET ECCE TERRAE MOTUS – A powerful awakening

Specially designed for the combined forces of Gothic Voices, with the fine Oslo Domkor conducted by Vivianne Sydnes

ET ECCE TERRAE MOTUS – A powerful awakening – a musical interplay of images of power and light, with the opulent twelve-voice mass ‘Et ecce terrae motus’ (And behold, there was an earthquake) by Antoine Brumel (c.1460 – c.1513), and virtuosic motets and chansons by Guillaume Dufay (c.1397-1474). Music based on the chant and scored for a combination of the two performing ensembles, large and small, frames the sequence, including a newly composed piece by Andrew Smith (*1970).
