A New Recording at Boxgrove

A New Recording at Boxgrove

We are delighted to announce that we will be recording a new CD, our first with Linn Records, at Boxgrove Priory near Chichester in June. We will be recording repertoire from ‘Mary, Star of the Sea’, a programme that we performed live on the BBC at the Cadogan Hall in March. This programme contains both medieval and contemporary music celebrating the virgin Mary, and includes a piece written specially for us by Andrew Smith using the 14th Century medieval text, ‘Stond wel moder’, a dialogue between Mary and Christ speaking from the cross.

Boxgrove is a beautiful church, dedicated to St. Mary and St. Blaise, and dates from the early 12th Century. It is a very special place, somewhere we know very well from our days recording with Hyperion, and it suits our music perfectly. We’re very happy to be going back there again.
